About Physicians For Peace

Physicians for Peace transforms lives by training, supporting and empowering healthcare professionals working with the world’s underserved populations. We engage compassionate world citizens to deliver training and support to healthcare teams in resource scarce regions and work in partnership with local health teams to introduce skills and fill specific training gaps, while mobilizing targeted equipment and supplies that are plentiful in the U.S. but scarce in the developing world. Regardless of the country or region, our goals are the same: self-sufficiency and better health. We want all people to have an opportunity for a healthy, productive life.

Headquartered in Norfolk, VA, we have established medical training partnerships in more than 60 countries since 1989. Our focus is on education and building the capacity of in-country health care services. In the words of founder Dr. Charles Horton: "If you heal someone, you help one person. If you teach someone to heal, you help many."
