Petasense

Petasense, founded in Jan 2014, is a Silicon Valley startup in the Industrial Internet of Things space. Our vision is to help plants connect their equipment with modern wireless sensors and dramatically improve operational efficiency and eliminate unplanned downtime by using machine learning and predictive analytics on sensor data that we collect. We are backed by top Silicon Valley venture capital firms - True Ventures, Felicis Ventures and leading angel investors in Silicon Valley. Our first product - the Petasense Vibration Mote - is the Fitbit for industrial machines. It is a battery-powered wireless vibration sensor that monitors the health of rotating machines (e.g. induction motors, pumps, compressors) which are ubiquitous in manufacturing plants. All the sensor data is collected and analyzed in the Petasense Cloud. In the Petasense cloud, we use digital signal processing and machine learning algorithms to detect anomalous behavior of machines and predict failure. Users (Plant Managers, Maintenance engineers, etc) are provided with web and mobile software to visualize the health of their machines on dashboards and look at detailed graphs and charts of sensor data trends. Petasense has already been commercially selling the Petasense Vibration Motes for over a year. We have over a dozen customers and we have an impressive roster of clients that include Silicon Valley Power, Stanford University and some of the top Fortune 500 energy and power plants. The number of connected devices is exploding from 5 billion today to more than 40 billion by 2020. A large part of this connectivity will happen in the industrial world. Today’s technologies only allow the most expensive machinery to be monitored and optimized. Petasense is disrupting and democratizing this $5.5 billion market. Our team consists of people who have built enterprise & wireless startups and have worked at blue chip companies like Bosch, Cisco, Nokia, Deloitte, Citrix and Fab.com. The founding team consists of BITS Pilani, IIT, MIT and IIM alums. We have a penchant for solving challenging technical and engineering problems.
