The eye offers a natural window to the brain via the retina. This light-sensitive layer, which lines the interior of the eye, is an extension of our central nervous system. Recent research has reported the presence of Aβ plaques in the retinas of both humans and mice who test positive for Alzheimer's Disease. This discovery opens the possibility that a critical hallmark for Alzheimer's Disease could be detected in the eye by a simple, safe, and non-invasive scan.
