Opera Colorado is the only opera company that entertains and enriches through the performance and creation of world-class, fully-staged operas in a sophisticated urban Colorado setting for anyone seeking an authentic, artful, and immersive escape in an era of packaged, everyday entertainment. Since its inception in 1983, Opera Colorado has consistently brought opera of the highest artistic merit to the metropolitan Denver area. With three main stage productions and several special events and performances each season, Opera Colorado is dedicated to keeping opera a living and vibrant art form for generations to come. Opera Colorado is proud of its education and community programs and partnerships that serve over 35,500 students and adults across the state each year, many of whom would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience opera. Our education programs help introduce and demystify opera by creating an inviting environment in which opera can be explored, developing future audience members and arts enthusiasts. Opera Colorado's main stage performances take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House located downtown in the Denver Performing Arts Complex at 14th and Curtis Streets. The opera house is a magnificent example of Denver’s vibrant performing arts scene and is owned by the Arts and Venues Department of the City and County of Denver.
