Omera Petroleum Limited (OPL), a subsidiary of MJL Bangladesh Limited has successfully started its commercial operation on March 9, 2015 with utmost commitment of convenience of availability, functionality and safety. Parlym International Ltd, EPC contractor of OPL has installed the machineries maintaining European standard. OPL has most sophisticated distributed control system and programmable logic controller. The main terminal is located at Mongla (largest in Bangladesh) and three satellite stations are located at Bogra (Sherpur), Dhaka (Ghorashal) and Chittagong (Mirershorai) respectively. The company is expected to meet the growing demand of LP Gas, especially mitigating existing gas crisis in the country with its consolidated capacity of 100,000 MT per year that will be doubled up with market expansion. OPL has by far the largest LPG storage & bottling complex along with the strong distribution channel with massive fleet of six road tankers and a self propelled LPG barge by the name of “Omera Princess”. The Barge has a capacity to move 300 tons of LPG via river ways and coastal areas of Bangladesh. It was built under supervision of Belgium based DEC-Parlym at Radiant Shipyard, Rupganj and was delivered on Fall 2014. This is the first time that waterways are being utilised for inland LPG transportation, a good example of how Omera Petroleum is utilising its capacity and technology to strengthen the downstream gas industry of Bangladesh. OPL delivers 5.5 kg, 12 kg and 35 kg LPG cylinders to the household and commercial gas markets. OPL will also deliver 18 Ton bulk LPG to industrial customer with the help of road tanker. OPL noted an outstanding performance in first year of operation in 2015 & fastest growing company, thereby; investing another USD 8 to10 million for capacity expansions.
