The Northern Regional College was established in 2007 following the merger of the previous legacy colleges, the Causeway Institute of Further and Higher Education, the East Antrim Institute of Further and Higher Education and the North East Institute of Further and Higher Education. The College has six campuses, in Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Larne, Magherafelt, and Newtownabbey. It shares its campus in Larne with an organisation offering sheltered employment, and it also has a community presence in a number of out-centres across the region.
The Northern Regional College is the main provider of further education across 3 Council areas in Northern Ireland, covering a population of 450,000, or 25% of the people in Northern Ireland. As well as its further education provision, the College provides work-based learning through the Department for Employment and Learning’s ApprenticeshipsNI and Training for Success programmes. The College also supports companies, whether large or small, in the social economy, private or public sector, to develop solutions to their training and development needs.
