Nile Egyptian Schools (NES)
Education Development Fund
The Cabinet of Ministers
In September 2010 five schools located in five governorates will open their doors for students:
6th October, Oboor, Port Said, Minia and Qena.
NES is for students from age 4-18, generally from a middle-class background .Parents will pay fees that will cover the operational costs ,but up to 20% of the student body is expected to be eligible to receive financial aid from the state. The schools will be either two-class or three-class entry ,with either 700 or 1050 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Students will graduate in grade 12 with a certificate recording achievement grades in up to eight subjects, based on high –stakes examinations which will be set and marked by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) in the first instance. These curriculum-based examinations will be benchmarked to CIE's International standards at 18+ and the intention is to gain recognition for the certification so that NES students will be eligible to apply Egyptian universities, as well as to universities internationally.
