Mustard Seed actively looks for, invests in and supports young social business startups with the potential to generate commercial returns, alongside significant and sustainable positive outcomes in the areas of: • environmental sustainability • education • family and community • health • economic inclusion The support is aimed at helping to grow businesses that fill gaps currently unaddressed by government and industry, and enable young startups to turn into world-class businesses. At the heart of what we do are Social Business Pitch Competitions (#MSeedPitch). Mustard Seed Pitch Competitions take place on campus at leading universities, particularly business schools. To date, Mustard Seed has successfully delivered close to ten such Pitch Competitions at such universities around the world including the London Business School, INSEAD, IESE and the University of Western Australia. The soul of Mustard Seed lies in our Global Member Network – individuals seeking meaningful opportunities to invest in and/or mentor potentially impactful startups. __________________________________________________________________________________ First classmates then colleagues, Mustard Seed founders Alex Pitt and Henry Wigan first met at the London School of Economics before working together at Goldman Sachs in the UK, USA and Middle East. Noting a rising appetite for entrepreneurship among talented graduates keen to pursue socially and environmentally impactful businesses but a critical lack of seed capital to match, the duo co-founded Mustard Seed in 2014 to bridge the gap. The aim of Mustard Seed is to enable social enterprise and empower student entrepreneurs who want to push traditional boundaries in business.
