Monaco Telecom, the Principality's historic operator, provides Monaco residents and businesses fixed and mobile telephony, Internet and TV services, as well as data connectivity, hosting and cloud services to an international clientele. Monaco Telecom is a forerunner in the deployment of cutting-edge technologies, being the first operator to launch 5G with national coverage in July 2019. Monaco Telecom also provides Ultra High Speed Internet access up to 1 Gb/s to all households. The company is the sole shareholder of Epic, the first alternative operator in Cyprus and the leading mobile operator in Malta. Monaco Telecom is owned by the Monegasque State and the holding company NJJ Capital, which boasts a portfolio of leading companies in the telecommunication markets of Monaco, Switzerland, Ireland, Cyprus and Malta. The French businessman Xavier Niel, who controls NJJ Capital, also holds majority stakes in Iliad's telecommunication services in France and Italy.
