Minderoo is proudly Australian and encompasses all philanthropic and private business holdings of Andrew and Nicola Forrest, referred to as the Minderoo Group (including Minderoo Station) and the Minderoo Foundation.
What’s in a name?
Minderoo is an Aboriginal word meaning permanent and clean water.
Minderoo Station
Minderoo Station is where Andrew grew up in the Pilbara. It is a commercial cattle station approximately 50kms south-east of Onslow in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The property includes the former Nanutarra and Uaroo stations to total some 1.8m acres.
The Minderoo Foundation
The Minderoo Foundation (formerly known as the Australian Children’s Trust) was founded in 2001 by Andrew and Nicola Forrest.
The original aim of the Australian Children’s Trust was to help all Australians, particularly children and Indigenous Australians, to dream way beyond what their current circumstances and expectations might allow and then equip them with the belief to achieve those dreams.
The Minderoo Foundation has since expanded its focus to include GenerationOne, the Walk Free Foundation and Hope for Children.
GenerationOne is a national movement to bring all Australians together to end the disparity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in one generation.
The Walk Free Foundation’s mission is to end modern slavery in our generation by mobilising a global activist movement, generating the highest quality research, enlisting business and raising unprecedented levels of capital to drive change in those countries and industries bearing the greatest responsibility for slavery today.
Hope for Children aims to support orphans, vulnerable children and families severely affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty in Ethiopia.
What is it like to work at Minderoo?
Minderoo operates with a culture that encompasses the values of family, courage, humility, frugality, employment, enthusiasm, determination and innovation.
