Milwaukee Catholic Home is a nonprofit corporation which was founded in 1913 by a group of concerned women who wanted to provide a residence in the Milwaukee area for older men and women.
It was chartered by the State of Wisconsin as a residence in 1913. It opened in an anonymously donated home on North Astor Street where it remained until 1926. In December of that year, it was moved to 2301 E. Bradford Avenue where it provided a comfortable home to hundreds of residents for the next 47 years.
In 1973, Milwaukee Catholic Home was opened at 2462 N. Prospect Avenue. It contained 140 apartments and a 56-bed Health Care Center licensed as a skilled nursing facility.
In 1997, additional services were added in a three-story building which surrounds a courtyard. Located at 2330 N. Prospect Avenue is a 122 bed Health and Rehabilitation Center, Assisted Living and Generations Day Center.
While Milwaukee Catholic Home has a strong relationship to the Roman Catholic Church in terms of history, tradition and service, persons of all faiths are welcome. Neither the Archdiocese of Milwaukee nor the Roman Catholic Church has any legal or financial responsibility for the residence.
