The Mental Health Commission of NSW is an independent Government agency which drives policy reform to support people who experience mental illness, their families and their carers to live full and rewarding lives.
The Commission advocates for system-wide change on behalf of consumers, families and carers, educates the public about mental health issues, and promotes prevention and early intervention in mental health.
The Commission also helps drive reform of the NSW mental health system by:
• preparing a whole-of-government plan which supports people with mental illness, their families and carers to live full and rewarding lives
• monitoring and reporting on its implementation
• reviewing, evaluating, reporting on and advising on services and programs
• undertaking and commissioning research and policy development
• promoting innovative programs and sharing knowledge about good practices in mental health.
