Information
With roots in the rural community of Valle Crucis, North Carolina, the Mast General Store has grown to include nine locations in three states. The Original Mast Store was opened in 1883 and carried everything from cradles to caskets. The store is the center of the community and is inspiration behind new “old” locations in other cities and towns. Called a destination by travel journalist Charles Kuralt, the Mast Store is known for its wide collection of goods – something for everyone from one to 101. All locations are in rehabilitated buildings along revitalizing main streets in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The merchandise includes traditional fashions, comfortable footwear, outdoor and travel gear, country gourmet foods, toys powered by imagination, and over 500 old-fashioned candies. The goal for employees at the Mast Store is to provide quality goods at fair prices with old-fashioned, friendly service. In addition to physical locations, the Mast Store has an online store where guests can wander virtual aisles filled with the same goods.
