Our designs are inspired by the culture and character of a project's location, the demands of specific programs and the unique aspirations of our clients. We believe that design must exceed the merely functional or inevitable and that architecture can meaningfully advance society and culture. Rodolfo Machado and Jorge Silvetti incorporated Machado and Silvetti Associates in 1985. In 1991, the firm was given the first ever Award in Architecture by the American Academy of Arts and Letters for twenty years of "boldly conceived and brilliantly executed urban projects" and the designs were commended for being "uncompromisingly dedicated to envisioning a meaningful architecture of the public realm." Since that time, the office has received three National Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects, ten Progressive Architecture awards and citations, fifteen design awards from the New England AIA chapter, twenty Boston Society of Architects awards including the 2003 Harleston Parker Medal and the prestigious International Award for Architecture in Stone. Today the firm is led by five Principals: Jorge, Rodolfo, Jeffry Burchard, Ned Goodell and Stephanie Randazzo Dwyer. The collective knowledge and experience of the Principals and the entire team is the strength of Machado Silvetti, enabling the firm to respond to the unique needs and desires of new clients and varied projects.
