Innovative Genomics Institute

The Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI) focuses on next generation genome editing research using CRISPR/Cas9 technology in order to advance our understanding of the ways in which genomic information is harnessed and to bring about fundamental change in biological and biomedical research by enabling scientists to read and write in genomes with equal ease. Established in 2014 at the Li Ka Shing Center for Genomic Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in a joint research effort with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), the IGI is a globally focussed organization that encourages the enhancement and proliferation of genome editing research and technology in both the academic and commercial research communities.
