This is the official page of the Income Tax Department. The Income Tax Department's mandate is administration of Direct Taxes for the Government of India. The vision of the Income Tax Department (ITD) is to be a partner in the nation building process through progressive tax policy, efficient and effective tax administration and improved voluntary compliance. This is achieved through an enabling policy environment and augmenting the revenue mobilisation apparatus for optimum revenue collection under the law, while ensuring taxpayer trust in the system.
