In 2004, Greylock Federal Credit Union, an independent company, wholly owned by its members, purchased a local independent insurance agency, Read Shaw Insurance. Having been in business since 1875, Read Shaw seemed the perfect fit to compliment Greylock’s commitment to Berkshire County. It quickly became clear that a broader footprint was needed in order to provide the “treat everyone better than they expect” level of service that is Greylock’s hallmark. Expansion to North County was completed through the acquisition of Gallup & Casey Agency in June 2007. Gallup & Casey also had a long local history, having been in business for 27 years. That acquisition expanded Greylock Insurance Agency to Adams, North Adams and Williamstown. To complete county-wide coverage, Greylock opened an insurance location in December 2007, in Great Barrington.

Through further growth and strategic planning, GIA is proudly the only truly county-wide insurance network in the Berkshires. We now serve an estimated 9,000 personal and commercial customers through 7 offices and 28 insurance professionals. Greylock Insurance Agency has been recognized as a leader in the industry and is highly regarded by their carrier partners, reaching top achievement levels with many and serving as representatives on several of our Agent's Councils.
