An AmeriCorps organization training public housing residents for green career pathways through service. | OVERVIEW: Green City Force (GCF) is an AmeriCorps program that engages young adults from low income communities across NYC in national service related to the environment. In doing so, we prepare them for sustainable careers, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building the green city we want to see. Since our founding in 2009, we have engaged more than 700 young adults in our signature Service Corps program, constructed 6 urban farms in NYC public housing developments, and educated tens of thousands of New Yorkers on gardening, healthy eating, energy and water conservation and recycling.
