Foundation Ideo

The Ideo Foundation [Fundación Ideo] was formed in 2001 as a non-profit organization, which was created by the Government of the Canary Islands in order to provide comprehensive care to all juveniles (under 18 years old) within that Autonomous Region who are under a judicial sentence; in other words, those underage youths who have committed some kind of crime thereby subject to a court imposed sentence. This comprehensive care consists primarily of acting as guardians and legal custodians of those juveniles while they are carrying out some kind of court ordered sentence; providing them with food, clothing, education and mental health treatment, all of which forms part of the process to rehabilitate the minor back into society. This non-profit is comprised of approximately 550 employees, located in eight work centers, which are classified according to the kind of sentence imposed upon said juvenile
