Eaton School District provides public education to 2,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. As of February 2020, niche.com ranked Eaton School District in the Top 20 school districts in Colorado for Best School Districts in Colorado (#18), Districts with the Best Teachers in Colorado (#17), and Best School Districts for Athletes in Colorado (#2) among 180 school districts in CO. Galeton Elementary was recognized by the state of Colorado for the second year in a row as a John Irwin School of Excellence for their outstanding academic achievement in 2019. Despite the small size, Eaton High School offers an extensive selection of classes to prepare students for post-secondary careers and partners with the University of Northern Colorado and AIMS Community College. Voters approved a $128m facility bond construction bond issue on the November 2019 ballot to build a new high school and remodel existing facilities.
