E3G is an independent climate change think tank with a global outlook. We work on the frontier of the climate landscape tackling the barriers and advancing the solutions to a safe climate. Our goal is to translate climate politics, economics and policies into action.
We are experts on climate diplomacy, energy policy and sustainable finance.
E3G builds cross-sectoral coalitions to achieve carefully defined outcomes, chosen for their capacity to leverage change.
E3G works closely with like-minded partners in government, politics, civil society, science, the media, public interest foundations and elsewhere.
We currently have offices in London, Brussels, Berlin and Washington DC.
The core of our capability lies with our diverse, experienced and creative staff. E3G’s founding directors have a unique experience working on energy, environment, security policy and diplomacy challenges in the UK Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and as senior political advisors.
E3G was founded in 2004 to address the challenge of how to deliver transformational policy change. Our experience has been that the main obstacles to sustainable development lie not in a lack of analysis or available resources, but in the silo-based nature of institutions and decision-makers. We, therefore, work to align politics and policy to leverage strategic outcomes.
E3G is established in the UK as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. E3G maintains full independence in all its activities and is funded by a mix of foundations, government bodies and NGOs.
E3G is established in Belgium as a not-for-profit association (ASBL) and in Washington as a private company with 501c3 tax exempt status.

E3G is an independent climate change think tank that focuses on addressing the challenges posed by climate change through innovative solutions and policy advocacy. Our main objectives include advancing sustainable development, promoting climate resilience, and facilitating climate diplomacy. We work on the frontier of the climate landscape to tackle barriers and identify pathways for a clean economy, ensuring that social issues, governance, and sustainable finance are integral to our approach.
E3G supports a wide range of industries in its climate initiatives, including energy, agriculture, finance, and governance. We engage with stakeholders across these sectors to promote sustainable practices, enhance climate resilience, and develop policies that align with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our work often intersects with issues of water scarcity, climate risk, and the transition to a clean economy, ensuring that all industries can contribute to and benefit from sustainable development.
E3G approaches climate diplomacy by fostering collaboration among governments, businesses, and civil society to create effective climate policies and agreements. We facilitate dialogues and partnerships that aim to bridge gaps between different stakeholders, ensuring that climate action is equitable and inclusive. Our team works to influence international negotiations and support countries in implementing their climate commitments, focusing on practical solutions that can be adopted globally.
E3G plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable finance by advocating for investment strategies that prioritize environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. We work with financial institutions, policymakers, and businesses to develop frameworks that encourage green investments and mitigate climate risks. Our research and policy recommendations aim to mobilize capital for sustainable projects, ensuring that finance is aligned with climate goals and contributes to a resilient economy.
E3G provides a variety of resources to help stakeholders understand climate risk and resilience. This includes research reports, policy briefs, and case studies that analyze the impacts of climate change on different sectors and regions. We also offer tools and frameworks for assessing climate risks and developing strategies to enhance resilience. Our goal is to equip decision-makers with the knowledge and insights needed to navigate the complexities of climate change and implement effective solutions.
Individuals and organizations can get involved with E3G's initiatives by participating in our events, engaging with our research, and collaborating on projects that align with our mission. We welcome partnerships with NGOs, businesses, and governmental bodies that share our commitment to tackling climate change. Additionally, subscribing to our newsletters and following our social media channels can keep you informed about our work and opportunities for engagement.
