Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) is a key economic development agency, with a crucial role in ensuring the prosperity of South Australia’s primary industries and regions. In 2013-14, the agribusiness sector generated approximately $19.7 billion in revenue, employed 1 in 5 South Australian workers, and accounted for 48% (or $5.4 billion) of the State’s merchandise exports. Our regions also make a substantial contribution to the State’s economy, not only through agribusiness but also through mining and minerals processing, manufacturing, tourism and energy production.
