Founded in 1974, Dental Aid was the first not-for-profit comprehensive dental clinic in the United States. Thirty-six years later, in 2010, Dental Aid provided more than 7,200 children and adults with affordable, high-quality, comprehensive dental care, providing the market equivalent of $6.3 million dollars in care for its patients.
Dental Aid's mission is to provide accessible and affordable oral health care while taking a leadership role in education, collaboration, and advocacy.
Dental Aid provides comprehensive reduced-fee oral health care (about half the usual and customary fees charged by private dentists in our area). Dental Aid accepts Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), but also has funds to help subsidize care for individuals not covered under Medicaid or CHP+ who cannot our reduced fees. Dental Aid does not currently accept private insurance, but is an enrollment site for Medicaid and CHP+.
Dental Aid strongly believes children deserve to have a positive dental experience every time they visit the dentist. We employ pediatric dentists who specialize in working with children 12 years old and younger. Our pediatric dentists take young children with complex cases to The Children’s Hospital (TCH) to provide treatment under general anesthesia. This allows the dentists to complete a child’s treatment plan during one visit without making the child sit for hours in a dental chair.
