Crabtree is an operating division of Altron Power and a subsidiary of the JSE Listed Altron Group. Crabtree SA first opened its doors in 1947. From those early days, the Crabtree credo is to be a company that meets the high demands of its customers through the provision of a technically advanced product, unrivalled service and superior support and back-up infrastructure. In 1989, Crabtree was sold to Powertech. Crabtree has grown steadily to become the leading supplier and manufacturer of innovative branded products for developers, maintainers and users of low voltage electrical infrastructure in Southern Africa. With the widest range of sockets and switches (primarily found in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings), a fit for purpose range of circuit breakers and distribution boards, conduit, trunking and PVC fittings, complemented with a varied range of domestic products (adaptors, multi-plugs and extension cords), Crabtree’s mission is to create a convenient, reliable and safe electrical environment inside the building. Crabtree's manufacturing and assembly facilities have all been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification and all products produced and marketed by Crabtree either carry the SABS mark or are approved for sale by the South African Bureau of Standards, ensuring that all products that bear the Crabtree name are dedicated to quality, safety and reliability. Manufacture and assembly of these quality products takes place at the primary facilities in Wadeville, while ably supported with an assembly plant in Lesotho and distribution, sales and customer service centres are located in Wadeville, Bloemfontein, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, George, Cape Town and Namibia.
