In 1974, Comvita founders Claude Stratford and Alan Bougen imagined people living healthy lives. Bees were their inspiration, and honey their medicine. People were drawn to the same vision, hearing the stories of care for the community through good health. Paengaroa became home to Comvita, a place for people working with, and learning from, nature. Our purpose is to inspire, enable and empower people to live healthy, happy and vibrant lives. Today Comvita continues that vision by researching and selecting sources of natural ingredients, carefully tending and harvesting them to preserve their purity. We develop, market and manufacture products in the categories of Healthcare, Personal Care (Wound Care) and Functional Foods (Health Foods). Manuka (leptospermum) honey is at the core of the Comvita product range and we are the largest manufacturer and marketer of this uniquely New Zealand resource. We sell into over 18 countries through a network of wholesale and third party retail outlets, with more than 480 branded retail outlets throughout Asia – including 400 stores in 40 cities in mainland China - and online.
