Charlie House HQ

Charlie House is a small, relatively new, locally based children's charity which engages in activities and projects to support children with complex disabilities and life limiting conditions in North-east Scotland. Charlie House currently provides support via a monthly Saturday Club and in 2014 we provided our first residential activity short break, which we hope will become an annual event. The charity also provides families with information and support available with other local and national services. In 2016, we will be working in partnership with NHS Grampian to provide the Charlie House Community Team. The Community Team will consist of Nurses and a Family Liaison Officer and be developed further over time. The Community Team will be introduced to the family from diagnosis, assist in the transition from hospital to home and support the children and their families with additional information, emotional and practical support as required throughout their life journey. In North-east Scotland there are approximately 1,700 children and young people with a life-limiting condition. Many do not receive appropriate support locally, we would like to change that and are planning our projects to provide the right support at the right time, locally. Our vision is that all children with complex disabilities and life limiting conditions in North-east Scotland receive the necessary support they require from the very start of their life journey, including a smooth transition from hospital to home, the whole family receiving practical and emotional support, enjoying activities, making memories and living life to the full. Our mission is to improve life quality for children and young people with life limiting conditions and their families in the local area. Our guiding principles are to be inclusive, family centred and needs led.
