Central Exchange provides the venue and voice for women seeking to reach their full personal and professional potential. Brief History: In 1978 Marjorie Powell Allen returned from a women's conference in Houston, full of enthusiasm - and ready to do something that would make a difference for women in Kansas City. She contacted Beth Smith, and the two visionaries convened a task force of 12 women representing a cross-section of the community. For two years, the group met regularly and by 1980, an organization called The Central Exchange opened in Crown Center, adding 160 members in its first year. We are always grateful to and proud of the women who took the steps to create The Central Exchange. Posts by users do not represent the views of Central Exchange.
