The CUNY Institute for Urban Systems Building Performance Lab was established in 2006 to improve the energy efficiency and performance of public and commercial buildings through research and training.
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION: BPL is a leading provider of energy efficiency and building performance professional education in New York City. With our partner the CUNY School of Professional Studies, we’ve trained more than 2,000 building professionals, including City employees, union members, and hospital and commercial facility managers. We have the knowledge and experience to help you advance your career.

RESEARCH: BPL, along with partners at the City College of New York, is a member of the Sustainably Integrated Buildings and Sites (SIBS) Center, a National Science Foundation Industry-University Collaborative Research Center. Our research partners in SIBS include the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services, Johnson Controls, and Vornado Realty Trust.
BPL has also carried out building systems research with the support of the Lawrence Berkeley and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories, NYSERDA, and many more partners.
