We're an environmental charity campaigning for a beautiful and living countryside that everyone can value and enjoy. Mission: CPRE campaigns for a sustainable future for the English countryside, a vital but undervalued environmental, economic and social asset to the nation. We highlight threats and promote positive solutions. CPRE believes that the countryside belongs to all of us. That everyone has a right to enjoy our land and landscapes. As our vice-president Bill Bryson points out "the countryside remains one of this country's supreme achievements. I know of no landscape anywhere that is more universally appreciated, more visited and walked across and gazed upon, more artfully worked, more lovely to behold, more comfortable to be in, than the countryside of England."​ CPRE wish not only to maintain but to provide a positive vision of ways to enhance the countryside for generations to come.
