Banka Slovenije is the central bank of Republic of Slovenia. It is a legal entity governed by public law, autonomous in disposal of its own assets and governed by its decision-making bodies independently of any decisions, positions or instructions of state agencies or any other bodies. Since the introduction of the Euro on 1 January 2007 Banka Slovenije fully abides by the provisions of the European System of Central Banks' (ESCB) and ECB statutes.
Banka Slovenije carries out the following tasks:
* implementation of the common monetary policy,
* banking supervision and regulation of the banking sector,
* provision of banknotes,
* statistics, economic analysis and research of macro-economic developments and financial stability,
* management of the official foreign reserves and other financial assets,
* promotes smooth operation of payment systems and
* other tasks and responsibilities pursuant to the Bank of Slovenia Act.
