BIR is Norway’s second largest waste management company and is responsible for waste handling from approximately 320.000 inhabitants in the municipalities owning BIR. The company also offers solutions for industrial waste.
BIR aims to own and manage companies carrying out the collection, transport and processing of consumer waste, as well as industrial, commercial and hazardous waste. The following municipalities are the owners of BIR: Askøy (6.74 %), Bergen (80%), Fusa (1.33%), Kvam (0.33%), Os (4.74%), Osterøy (2.54%), Samnanger (0.88%), Sund (1.83%), and Vaksdal (1.61%).
