BACK YARD

We have always wanted to rent a pool without having to rent a house, or rent a terrace without renting a full apartment. With BACK YARD it’s now possible. You can rent or let any kind of private space you have, like a back yard, a swimming pool, a terrace or a rooftop, a parking space or a garage, any storage room, and even a greenhouse or plot of land. Think of anything else and list it on BACK YARD. On our sharing platform, you can be a guest, a host, or both. As a GUEST, you can look for a private space to rent by choosing one of the listed categories, i.e. back yards, swimming pools, rooftops and terraces, parking and garages, storage solutions, greenhouse, land plots and others. You can then select criteria such as location (your location or any other preferred address), distance from the chosen location, dates, price range, pricing options (by hour, by day, or both) and availability options (weekend, weekdays, or both). Your search results will appear with the respective rental fee. You can select any of the search results and find out more details such as any offered amenities, rental rules, refundable security deposit (if requested by the owner) and any extra fees (e.g. cleaning fee). Among your search results, you might find some cases where lenders offer discounts if your rental period exceeds a certain number of hours/days. At the end of the booking period, you will be able to rate your experience and recommend BACK YARD to your contacts. As a HOST, you will list your space and specify the rental fee, your location, the amenities you offer and any rental rules. Additionally, you can decide to request a refundable security deposit which will help ensure that the properties are left in acceptable conditions and make sure guests are liable for any damages. You can also add any other fees if you feel it’s necessary for services such as cleaning and/or maintenance. As a host you can decide to list a space either by hour or by day and set the days (weekend, weekdays or both) as well as the time day you wish to make your listed spaces available. Between each booking listed by hour, there will be a three-hour gap that will allow you to clean and maintain your space, making it possible for you to offer the best service to your guests and to have more than one booking per day. Obviously any other spaces you have listed will be bookable independently. With BACK YARD, also the hosts rate their customers at the end of the sharing experience. Moreover, as a host, you can check the Lender Dashboard at any time, which shows details of your personal earnings and ratings and helps you track the success of your rentals. Our goal is to give users a way to share any of their private spaces and earn some extra money. To achieve this, we charge no cost to the guests whilst charging hosts a 15% fee, which allows us to keep offering you our service. We hope you won’t mind it. Finally, to avoid any sort of miscommunication, we introduced a simple notification system, built within the app, by which guests and hosts both need to confirm check-in into and check-out from the booked property at the beginning and at the end of the sharing period. This is in addition to the messaging system (also included in the app) where users can text each other to organise their bookings.
