About the Alberta College of Paramedics
The Alberta College of Paramedics is the regulatory body for the paramedicine profession. Legislated under the Health Professions Act (HPA) the college is designated to govern and regulate three levels of practice:
• Emergency Medical Responders (EMR),
• Primary Care Paramedics (PCP) formerly Emergency Medical Technicians, and
• Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP) formerly Emergency Medical Technologist-Paramedics.
In addition to regulation, the College also operates the Provincial Registration Examination and oversees professional conduct.

The Alberta College of Paramedics governs EMRs, PCPs and ACPs to ensure competent, safe and ethical patient centered care.

Achieve excellence in the governance and advancement of the profession of paramedics in service to the health and wellness of Albertans.
