AgriFutures Australia invests in research, innovation and learning to enhance the long-term prosperity of rural industries and communities across Australia. We do this by forging new frontiers of learning, pushing for greater collaboration across sectors and investing in new and emerging industries. Our vision is to grow the long-term prosperity of Australian rural industries. We work across four main areas to bring our vision to life. - People and Leadership Initiatives that attract capable people into careers in agriculture, build the capability of future rural leaders, and support change makers and thought leaders. For example, the Agrifutures™ Horizon Scholarship, Agrifutures™ Ignite Network and Agrifutures™ Rural Women’s Award. - National Challenges and Opportunities Research and analysis to understand and address important issues on the horizon for Australian agriculture. - Growing Profitability Research and development for established industries that do not have their own Research & Development Corporation (RDC), including the rice, chicken meat, honey bee, thoroughbred horses, pasture seeds, export fodder, ginger and tea tree oil industries. - Emerging Industries Research and development to accelerate the establishment and expansion of new rural industries, such as camel milk and pomegranates.
