Academy Of American Poets

The Academy of American Poets is the nation's largest membership-based organization championing poets and poetry. The organization originated and organizes National Poetry Month, and produces the popular website Poets.org, as well as the digital series, Poem-a-Day, which features new work by more than 250 of today's talented poets. The organization also produces numerous live events, including poetry readings and an annual gala celebration of poetry at Lincoln Center. Since its earliest days, the Academy of American Poets has awarded a suite of prizes to poets, and been a central resource for educators seeking materials to enable them to bring poetry into the classroom. Members of the organization support its programs, and receive American Poets Magazine.
