1625 Independent People provides a range of services aimed at helping young people aged 16-25 achieve independence. These services include supported housing, emergency accommodation, financial inclusion support, peer education, and community mentoring. We focus on creating a psychologically informed environment to ensure that young people feel safe and supported as they transition to independent living.
Our services are designed for young people aged 16-25 who are living in the South West, particularly those who are care leavers, individuals leaving young offender institutions (YOIs), or those facing homelessness. We aim to assist those who require additional support to live independently and build a stable future.
To access emergency accommodation, young people can contact us directly through our website or by phone. Our team will conduct an initial assessment to understand your situation and determine the best course of action. We prioritize those in immediate need and work to provide a safe place to stay while we help you explore longer-term housing options.
Peer support plays a crucial role in our approach at 1625 Independent People. We believe that young people benefit significantly from connecting with others who have faced similar challenges. Our peer mentors provide guidance, share experiences, and offer emotional support, helping individuals to feel less isolated and more empowered in their journey towards independence.
Our financial inclusion support includes helping young people understand budgeting, managing their finances, and accessing benefits they may be entitled to. We provide workshops and one-on-one sessions to equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed to achieve financial stability, which is essential for independent living.
We offer tailored support for care leavers, including housing assistance, life skills training, and access to education and employment opportunities. Our team works closely with care leavers to create personalized support plans that address their unique needs and challenges, ensuring they have the resources and guidance necessary to thrive as they transition into independent living.
