Senate House Library is one of the UK’s largest academic libraries focused on the arts, humanities, and social sciences, holding a wealth of primary source material from the medieval period to the modern age. We house and care for over 2 million books, 50 special collections and 1,800 archival collections. With our partner libraries of the institutes of the School of Advanced Study, we provide services to our readers and the colleges of the federal University of London, as well as from regional, national and international research communities. Our collections have been continuously developed since the 1870s with millions of printed books, thousands of printed and electronic journals, and the highest proportion of historic collections of any university library in the UK. We have a number of library rooms for study across the 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th floors of Senate House which are open to registered readers.
