My passion is making software that doesn't suck. I do that by applying my usability knowledge to make a great product and by making the code clear and expressive as to keep it maintainable. I can work as easily on a complex backend as on the Javascript at the front end. Since the entire web stack works together, it comes as a great benefit to be able to work on it at all levels. I have a deep knowledge of the possibilities and limitations of web technologies. I can bridge the gap between the user and the developer. Furthermore, I am a usability specialist with an academic background in Psychology and in Human-Machine Interaction. During my student years, I have had a seat at the board of my student organization Cleopatra A.S.G. (which is a full time position) during which I developed organizational and leader skills. Whilst working at iWink B.V., I had the opportunity to apply these skills in leading our internal development team. At Hyves, I played the role of Scrum master and have been responsible for making several new hires productive. At Mollie, I am responsible for making sure our code can move at a fast pace and of course for implementing new products. Specialties: Backend development (PHP 5.5, Python, Facebook's HPHP and XHP), MySQL. NoSQL data stores (memcached, Redis, Sphinx). Creating scalable, secure and well performing web sites. I further specialize in security: preventing injections of all sorts, making sure sensitive data is stored securely and also preventing social engineering. I have extensive experience with test-driven design (TDD) for PHP using PHPUnit, and with integration testing using Selenium.Head of Development @ Mollie is a technology-based company processing payments for more then 30.000 clients as a collecting payment service provider (CPSP) with the payment methods such as iDEAL, paysafecard, Bancontact/Mister Cash, Bitcoin, SEPA bank transfer, SOFORT Banking and credit card. For example, I set up continuous integration with Jenkins for all our projects. I also maintain – together with my colleagues – our open source plugins for web shops such as OpenCart and Magento on Github. I conducted a study on the relation between web page performance and conversion. I measured client-perceived loading delays at the ABN AMRO web site, and conducted an experiment in order to find out how loading delays influence web site usage (abandonment rate, pageviews per visitor and evaluation). I presented my results to the Internet management team. If you are interested in the results from my thesis, you can read about it on my web site or contact me to receive a copy of my thesis (in English).
