Overseeing the installation of Apache Strom on a cluster comprising of more than 20 nodes. • Supervised the installation of Apache Hadoop on an 80-node cluster. Configured MapReduce framework to utilize distributed file-systems such as GlusterFS, ZFS and OCFS instead of HDFS.• Provided oversight for upgrading the Hadoop Cluster from version 0.20 to version 2.30.• Responsible for software design and development of Apache Tomcat based middleware and backend text-search engine.• Defined the document structure for indexing text documents using Essie, an internal text-search engine developed at U.S. National Library of Medicine.• Defined rules for query-expansion based on the types of queries available to the end user. Validated the document structure and query expansion rules against the project requirements. • Suggested and programmed multithreaded results compilation coupled with distributed caching to improve the response time of the project website.• Programmed a shell-script utilizing ffmpeg to convert publisher supplied videos into a common format (MP4 and WebM) suitable for web-hosting.• Programmed a text mining module for medical concept extraction from image captions used to label images and provide the ground truth data for training an image classifier utilizing deep-learning techniques.
