I helped hire a new CTO, set development priorities, designed and implemented processes for the back office, and developed strategic partnerships. From June 2014 to November 2014 (6 months) Managing Director @ Epicentre was created with the goal of launching a network of coworking spaces
I developed deep industry research on the opportunity, created financial models and business plans, and pitched the opportunity to a wide range of investors, demonstrating the phenomenal growth and opportunities of this industry. I built the supply chain for provision of new spaces, including construction, fitout, IT networks, and marketing.
I ultimately proved that while there are strong numbers for a scalable property play in the area, the return on investment is not high enough to accommodate the additional risk in the space (i.e. we couldn’t replicate the IRR from StartNest at scale).
I am currently considering other options in the coworking industry including a technology play, and advising companies and individuals looking to start their own coworking spaces.
