Peter Norvig is a computer scientist, who got his start in the computer science field at UC Berkeley in 1980. After working on theory and implementions of digital controllers, Norvig moved on to work on standards-based computing on MIT’s Computer Science Laboratory. There, his work on low-power real-time systems led him to the idea of developing “threshold crossing points” for the distortion of digital input signals, and this led to his creation of the sampling theorem.After a few years at MIT, Norvig moved on toStanford University to pursue a doctorate in computer science. His doctoral work involved the design and implementation of a real-time control system, which he accomplished through the development of the Mosaic algorithm. Norvig’s academic work culminated with the publication of his book, Real-time Control Systems, in 2000.
