The main focus of my role is to ensure the Tesco Telecoms online estate, is kept up to date and on brand. This is done using a content management system. I work with commercial teams on a daily basis. Collecting design assets, and creating online propositions to advertise products. This has led me to design for many well major brands such as Apple, with the recent iPhone release on Tesco Mobile, Blackberry. As well as all of the mobile networks, and handset manufacturer’s in the UK. I also work in partnership with a design team at Shebang, who are a partner in Tesco’s Telecoms brand, working with them to create affiliate advertising propositions. I also liaise with numerous digital agencies such as Chemistry Digital, Red Brick Road. From February 2009 to March 2010 (1 year 2 months) Testing & Development Manager @ I Worked closely with project, and programme managers, developing a series of software applications & improvements. I have been liaising with a team in Australia on a daily basis, trouble shooting problems and providing relevant information to create solutions to issues. I played a key role in planning & developing the new service called ‘Tesco Talk Wi-fi’. Developing and user acceptance testing a mobile VOIP based application, from within a testing environment controlled by a testing console. During this period I was able to manipulate the system to artificially create scenario’s, and trigger certain responses from the system. Making it customer friendly, as well as working on the supporting websites ahead of the release. Working along side the, ‘One Ninety Communications’ design agency. Aiding in the development of the supporting websites (www.tesco.net/talkwifi). I also populated the site with the product information using a CMS program, and acted as webmaster for the team. During its developed I was responsible for fine tuning and offering advice on how to improve the overall functionality of the product. I worked closely with Nokia to understand the limitations of the handsets. During this role I was given the opportunity to work closely with the Tesco Board of Directors. Meeting on a regular basis with, Sir Terry Leahy (CEO), and Andrew Higginson (Finance CEO), with various meetings being held to further their understanding of the current and future projects and products. I also play supporting role to many other projects currently being run within the business.
