From September 2012 to June 2015 (2 years 10 months) London, United KingdomTemporary Research Fellow @ Main topic: integration of Cloud architectures with mobile systems. My goal is to use the computational and storage capacities offered by Clouds to offload the context data produced into the mobile system. From January 2012 to September 2012 (9 months) Bologna Area, ItalyPh.D. Student @ Ph.D. Student in the Electronics, Computer Science and Systems department (DEIS) at the University of Bologna, under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Corradi. My thesis title is “Middleware for quality-based context distribution in mobile systems”. From January 2009 to December 2011 (3 years) Bologna Area, ItalyInternship @ IBM Haifa Research Lab, Israel @ Internship period at the IBM Haifa Research Lab, Haifa, Israel, working under the supervision of Dr. Ofer Biran and Prof. Danny Raz.
I worked on VM placement in Cloud data centers, by specifically focusing on the effects of network requirements and constraints in placement computation and stability. I defined a new VM placement problem, with the main goal of increasing placement stability and reducing packet droppings under time-varying traffic demands. From June 2011 to September 2011 (4 months) IsraelVisiting Ph.D. Student @ Visiting Ph.D. Student at the PARADISE Research Lab under the supervision of Prof. Azzedine Boukerche. My research activies principally focused on the realization of context-aware applications in disaster area scenarios. The RECOWER middleware (http://www-lia.deis.unibo.it/Staff/MarioFanelli/RECOWER/index.html) aims to ensure scalable and reliable context data distribution even in infrastructure-less scenarios. From February 2010 to July 2010 (6 months) Ottawa, Canada Area
