After a decade of studies in electrical engineering and mathematics at Memphis Central High School, Kimberly Bryant earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1995 from Vanderbilt University. Afterward, Bryant worked as a research engineer at a small arms manufacturer in Tennessee for four years. She then moved back to Vanderbilt as a research mathematician, obtaining her Master of Science degree in 2001. In this role, she helped to design and develop a new mathematical standard for firearms cartridge development.Since then, Bryant has worked as a research mathematician at Vanderbilt University's mathematical institute, conducting research in areas such as Matrix theory, Combinatorial Mathematics, and Algebra. In her spare time, she also enjoys speaking and writing about theoretical mathematics. She is currently an associate professor in the mathematical institute at Vanderbilt University,where she teaches undergraduate and graduate students in pure and applied mathematicians.This past year, Bryant has made notable contributions to the field of pure and applied mathematics. For example, she published a paper entitled "A New Mathematical Standard for Firearms Cartridge Development" which she co-authored with her colleague, Samir K. Shehabi. The paper presents a new mathematical standard which is hoped to improve the accuracy of firearms cartridges and make them more environmentally friendly. Additionally, Bryant has also been involved in a number of projects carried out at Vanderbilt University's mathematical institute, such as a project entitled "On the Lower Manhattan Project: Advances in Analytic Algebra and its Applications" and a project entitled "Volterra andcomplete groups: An application to certain ring theory problems."Overall, Bryant has made a significant contribution to the field of pure and applied mathematics, and her work is eagerly awaited by many of her colleagues. She is an excellent research mathematician, who is Highly Commended by IEEE.
