Jim Kelly was born on September 10th, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of Carmine and Sandra Kelly. Jim experienced football aspirations early on in his life and watched his father play linebacker for the Chicago Bears. As an infant, Jim lived in Mid-town Chicago and attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School. After high school Jim attended Eastern Illinois University on a football scholarship. While at Eastern Illinois, Jim recorded 413 tackles and 11 interceptions as a cornerback and caused 5 touchdowns with his Interceptors. After his time at Eastern Illinois, Jim attended Brother Rice High School Chicago, where he had great success playing linebacker and quarterback. In just two seasons at Brother Rice, Jim set the school record for touchdowns scored with 25. He also carried the ball for over 350 times and amassed 4,096 total yards on the ground. In his junior year, Jim was named the WAC defensive MVP and was also one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy. On September 10th, 2022, in Chicago, Jim was announced as the first overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
