Ed Medlin joined Maxim in November 1999 as Director and Associate General Counsel, and brought the company years of commercial law private practice and corporate experience as general counsel at two other companies. He was promoted to Vice President in 2006 and to the position of Vice President and General Counsel in September 2010. Mr. Medlin also serves as Maxim's Chief Corporate Compliance Officer.
As Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Legal Officer, Ed oversees Maxim's global legal practice areas, corporate compliance, and risk management, as well as real estate, security, and global trade compliance. He is leading the Company's efforts to achieve best-in-class corporate compliance through the development of practical and effective risk identification, assessment, and training methods.
Ed is an active proponent of introducing project management concepts and the practical application of automated systems to the corporate law department.
Vice President, General Counsel @ In 1999 Ed joined Maxim Integrated, where he managed global legal commercial, employment, and litigation matters. In 2006, Ed was promoted to Vice President. Ed managed Maxim's option backdating investigation and class litigation. After two years and one of the most detailed option backdating investigations in Silicon Valley, the investigation successfully concluded without any negative findings or fines against the Company.
In 2010, Ed was appointed General Counsel of Maxim. In addition to expanding the legal operations to have an increased global and service focus, Ed has focused on developing practical and effective methods for law department management through project management and automation, and improving corporate compliance through an emphasis on integrity. From 1999 to Present (16 years) General Counsel @ In the early 90's Ed resigned his equity shareholder position in the Ropers, Majeski Law Firm to take an in-house position with Fox Racing Shox. Ed's position expanded from General Counsel to General Manager of the manufacturing company with substantial growth revenues and customer relationships. Ed then joined RockShox, Inc., another suspension manufacturing company, where he held several positions, including General Counsel. From 1994 to 1999 (5 years) Shareholder @ Ed was in private commercial law practice through the early 90's where his clients included small, mid-size, and large businesses, including Volvo North America, Volvo Penta Marine, and several large banks and real estate developers. Ed's practice included both transactional and litigation representation, with successful results in numerous Federal and State bench and jury trials. Ed successfully argued both California and Ninth Circuit appeals. From 1987 to 1994 (7 years)
