Grew, directed, and consolidated Oxford University's BT Centre for Major Programme Management to be world-leading in research, teaching, and executive education in megaproject management, based on principles described in the book "Megaprojects and Risk: An Anatomy of Ambition" (Cambridge University Press). After just five years, based on the success of the Centre, Oxford University's Saïd Business School decided to establish the activities of the Centre as a permanent academic program on a par with other permanent programs at Oxford University. All current research and teaching activities in major programme management were continued and Bent Flyvbjerg continued as the professorial lead for the new, permanent academic area as inaugural holder of the endowed Chair of Major Programme Management at Oxford University.
