The command was established on December 15, 2010 to operate and oversee the Navy Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), to include subordinate detachments, as they execute U.S. Navy surface ship sustainment, maintenance, and modernization. Subordinate commands include: ‒ Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (Naples, Italy) o Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center Detachment (Rota, Spain) o Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center Detachment (Manama, Bahrain) ‒ Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (Norfolk, VA) ‒ Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (Mayport, FL) ‒ Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (San Diego, CA) Additionally, CNRMC collaboratively executes its surface ship support mission in partnership with NAVSEA’s Directorate for Logistics, Maintenance & Industrial Operations (SEA 04) at the following locations: ‒ Hawaii Regional Maintenance Center (Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility) ‒ Northwest Regional Maintenance Center (Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility) ‒ U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) Altogether, the command is responsible for partnering with private industry to execute surface ship maintenance and modernization availabilities, conduct surface fleet intermediate level repairs and total ship readiness assessments, and serves as the first responder for surface ship request for technical assistance. With a force of approximately 7,500 personnel across all commands, CNRMC provides around the globe support to keep the Navy’s warships operational and materially ready for action.
