We consider it one of our great honors to serve the families of Upstate South Carolina during life’s most difficult moments. When a loved one dies, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation, and celebration of life. This is evident in everything we do — from the amenities we offer to the detailed planning and implementation of services. You can count on us every step of the way.
Liberty Mortuary was founded in 1902 by John Gantt Sr., and was known in town as the Gantt Funeral Home. Once Mr. Gantt retired, his dedicated sons, John, Jr. and Joe, took up the mantle and the funeral home became their own. The historical Gantt Memorial Park, now Liberty Memorial Gardens, was founded in 1954 by the Gantt family, and they operated the funeral home from 1902-1977. From 1977-1983, the funeral home was under the ownership of B.F. Eades, until it entered our care.
The legacy of family ownership we continue is important to us. When you come to Liberty Mortuary, we treat you as if you are family. The year 2009 brought an important milestone to our family as Holtzclaw Custom Memorials was founded to deepen the level of service we bring to each family. As the singular firm to provide mortuary, crematory, cemetery and monument services in all of upstate South Carolina, it is our honor to serve Pickens, Anderson, Greenville and Oconee county families with the greatest care.
