Korean Air is the largest airline in South Korea with a fleet of at least 170 planes and represents South Korea as a flag carrier of the country. The airline's headquarters is based in the capital of South Korea, Seoul. Korean Air has a long history, being founded in 1969 after Hanjin Group acquired Korean Air Lines, which was originally under the ownership of the Korean government.

Korean Air is a founding member of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance along with Delta Airlines, Air France, and Aeromexico.
